Scott Brown's Senate Victory a Shot Across Obama's Bow

Scott Brown's decisive victory in Massachusetts may not be a 7.0 earthquake, but they are feeling it in Washington and throughout the country. By running a great campaign and riding the anger over the heavy-handed way President Obama has tried to push one-party rule, his reckless spending and unpopular healthcare bill, Scott Brown has taken Ted Kennedy's seat. In a state were Democrat registrations outnumber Republicans 3.5 to 1, there is no way to take this landslide as anything other than a rebuff of President' Obama's administration.

There is now no Democrat seat in the Senate or House that is truly safe. If they refuse to seat Brown soon or try to pass healthcare anyway, there will be even more anger. If Democrats were smart, they would take a lesson from President Bill Clinton and adjust to the middle in response to voters giving him a stunning mid-term defeat. As a result, he won a second term relatively easy. I don't think President Obama is that flexible. I think he actually believes that without healthcare reform, he will be defeated. Mr. President, if you push this through, you will lose badly. All voters will get to experience is your sleazy payoffs, behind-the-closed-door deals, lack of transparency, and high taxes...long before they get any benefits four years down the line.

I don't think enough Democrats will follow this president over the cliff. I expect the healthcare plan to fail. He pushed too hard, and he lost big time. Then again, what do you expect with a president who has no leadership experience and an inflated view of his own wisdom and charisma.

Here's hoping that the overreach will set the stage for more and more Americans to see that liberal policies don't work. It's time to reclaim the freedom and opportunities that have made us what we are. It's time for smaller government...and I can think of some people I would like to see leave...so it is much smaller!
